Vimeo Create is Vimeo’s new video maker tool. It allows you to easily and quickly create your own video from stock videos, photos, and personal videos. This new tool is available to Pro, Business, and Premium-level users (you can go here to upgrade your account if you wish). Please note:
- Basic and Plus-level users do not have access to Stock media, certain templates and styles, the Brand Kit, or the ability to hide the Vimeo watermark. They can also only create videos up to 30 seconds long.
- The Brand Kit is only available to Business and Premium-level users.
- Videos made with Create cannot be longer than 10 minutes.
- Also, please note that Create is only available to account owners, not admins, contributors, or any other team member on an account.
Getting Started With Vimeo Create
To begin creating your new video with Vimeo Create, click “+ New video” from the Vimeo homepage, and then select “Create a Video” from the dropdown, or click “+ New video” on the “Create” tab of your Video Manager:
After clicking “New video,” you can create a video from an existing template, or start from scratch.
You can use certain keywords to search for a template if you have an idea on what kind of video you want (note: the search only works in English at this time).
Once you’ve selected a template, you will be taken directly to the editor where you can further customize your video.
Once you’re done customizing the template slides with your own text and images, click “Save and preview” to be taken to your preview page. From there, you can watch your creation, remove the Vimeo watermark (Pro, Business, and Premium users) and if you’re satisfied with the video, you can click “Save & share” in the bottom right corner to add the video to your Video Manager.
Creating a video from scratch
There are three sections that need to be completed in order to initiate the video creation process:
The storyboard section is where you will select your media items for your video. You can choose from existing media, such as the Getty stock library (Pro, Business, and Premium users) and videos you’ve previously uploaded to your Vimeo library. You can also upload new content by connecting your Google Photos account, or by uploading clips directly from your computer. All of the content you select will show up in the storyboard at the bottom of the page. Supported media types include:
Photo file types: JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, PNG
Video file types: 3GP, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, M2TS
Once you've selected all the media you want for your video, you will be taken to the storyboard where you can reorganize and delete the media, and add messages to go with the clips or images. At the top right corner, you'll see three icons: the Brand Kit (Business and Premium), the orientation icon, and the duration icon. For Business and Premium users, the paint brush icon brings up the brand kit where you can upload custom logos, change fonts, and choose specific color palettes. The orientation icon will allow you to select the orientation, and the duration icon will allow you to set the duration of the video. You can also set both to “auto” which will let our system decide based on what would look best for the completed video.
After you’ve selected and organized your media, your next step is to choose the style you would like to use for your video. Styles add flair to your videos with beautiful graphics and transitions that help to convey the mood of the video you’re creating. You can hover over each style to see a preview before selecting.
Choose from recommended music options, or browse through all the music we have to offer. You can also opt out of music by toggling on the “No Music” option at the top right of the page.
Once you’ve finished your selections, click “Preview” and a preview of your video will begin generating. Once the preview has been created, it will become a draft in your video manager. If you are satisfied with the video and don’t want to make additional changes, you can click “Save & Share” and we will begin uploading the video to your Vimeo account. If you’d like to make some changes, just click on the “Edit” button to proceed to the editor. Your draft video will remain available for further editing even after the video is uploaded to your account. To remove drafts, click the dotted menu and “Delete”.
