You can upload or select videos or photos to use as footage in the Create app for Android and iOS or the Vimeo Android app and Vimeo iOS app.
Create supports these file formats:
- Video: 3GP, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, MTS, M2TS
- Photo: JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, PNG
You can upload photos and videos from mobile device, using Stock footage, from Google Photos, media you've previously uploaded, or record live footage from your device's camera or screen (iOS only).

Add a new scene with photos or videos:
Follow these steps to add a new scene with photos or videos:
- In the editor, select the New Scene button to the left of the timeline. It has a blue circle with a white 'plus sign' in the middle.
- Select Photos & Videos.
This will open the media menu where you can select the source for your footage.
Add media from your Camera roll:
To upload media from your camera roll:
- Select “Camera Roll” to choose images from your image gallery.
- Select the Camera icon to take a live photo or video from your device.

iOS Only: Select Record Screen to record your device’s screen.
💡Tip: Everything on your screen, including notifications will be recorded while recording your device's screen. Enable Do Not Disturb to prevent unexpected notifications.

Add Stock media:
Access to the Stock library requires a Standard, Advanced, Pro, Business, Premium, or Enterprise account. Users on Free and Starter accounts who joined prior to July 17, 2024 also have access to the Stock library. Learn more at 'Compare Vimeo plans'
- Select Stock from the 'Add photos and videos' menu.
- Select between Videos or Photos.
- Enter keywords into the search box to easily filter through the stock library or scroll through the available categories.
- Select and hold the video thumbnail to preview it. Select a hold a photo thumbnail to enlarge it.
- Select which stock footage you'd like to add.
- Select Done to add them to your video. Each photo or video will be added to your storyboard as a new scene.
Google Photos:
You can connect your Google Photos account and access the videos and photos saved there to add to your video.
This feature is currently unavailable on the Create app for iOS.
⚠️Note: Google Photos requires some time to fully process uploaded videos with additional time added for longer videos. If your video or photo is not fully uploaded and processed in Google Photos, it will result in a lower-quality image when added to your Create video.
To add footage from Google Photos:

- Select “Google Photos” in the media upload menu.
- If you have not previously done so, you will need to “Connect to Google Photos” to access your Google Photos library.
- Log into your Google Photos account and grant the required permissions to allow Create to access your files.
- Once access has been granted, you can view the photos and videos stored in your Google Photos account.
- Select “Google Photos” in the media upload menu.

Add footage from your previous uploaded media:
Follow these steps to select media from your prior uploads:
Recent uploads is your personal media library and includes all your previously used photos and videos.
- Select Uploads from the media upload menu.
- Select the footage you'd like to to use in your video.
- You also have the ability to filter between the following:
- Media: Uploaded Media (photo or video clips) or Vimeo Videos (videos you've uploaded to Vimeo).
- Type of media: Photos or Videos.
- Your media's format: Portrait, Landscape, or Square.
- Select Done to add your selected files to your storyboard.
Upload media from your mobile device to the web
You can upload video clips and photos from your mobile devices to the web to use in creating videos.
To upload media from your mobile app to the web:
- From the home screen of the Create app, in either the Home tab or the My Videos tab, select your profile icon in the corner to access your account settings.
- Select Upload media
- Select the footage you’d like to upload from your mobile device to the web.
💡Tip: You can also select Record Screen to record your screen (iOS only). - Select Upload to add the photo or video. You can access this media in the Uploads tab of the Add photos and videos menu.
