How do I add a cutaway (B-Roll) in the Vimeo mobile apps?

You can make cutaways (B-rolls) in the Vimeo Android app, the Vimeo iOS app. 

Creating a cutaway (B-roll), lets you combine audio from one clip with related scenes from other footage. This footage is added to the original audio from the A-roll video clip to "visually support" the A-roll - often referred to as the "voice-over."

Your original clip (with audio) will be split into A-roll and B-roll, allowing you to make transitions between the shots/scenes. 

• A-roll is the primary audio and video of the original video clip with the original audio.
• B-roll is the supplemental footage used to visually support the A-roll.

💡Tip: Cutaway scenes cannot be duplicated or split.

There are 4 conditions that must be met to make a B-roll sequence: 

1. The A-roll must be a video scene.
2. The duration of your A-roll must be longer than 7 seconds.
3. The A-roll video must contain an audio track. 
4. The duration of the B-roll must fit the A-roll's available space.

To add a cutaway scene: 

1. In the editor, select the storyboard icon, represented by two overlapping rectangles with the number of scenes in your video. 
2. Locate the scene containing a video clip that features prominent audio, such as speech, that you want to hear in your video.
3. Drag and drop the supporting footage on top of your chosen audio. These are cutaway clips that will display while the audio of the main clip plays.
   💡Tip: The app will display how much footage duration remains for your B-roll sequence.
4. Select Done to return to the editor. 

To remove a cutaway scene: 

Android:

1. In the storyboard, select, drag, and drop the B-roll clips individually outside of the cutaway sequence area. This will make them individual scenes once more.
2. To bulk remove all scenes from the A-roll, select the entire combined scene to open the scene options menu.
3. Select Split to Scenes. 

iOS: 

1. In the storyboard, select, drag, and drop the B-roll clips individually outside of the cutaway sequence area. This will make them individual scenes once more.
2. To bulk remove all scenes from the A-roll, select the three-dots at the corner of the A-roll thumbnail to open the scene options menu.
3. Select ‘Split to Scenes’.
4. Select Done to return to the editor.
