We are always working to improve the security of our players, however, sharing a video online will always have risks, regardless of the platform you use. There is no foolproof way to fully prevent videos from being pirated, but there are ways to minimize risk.
Some ways to minimize your risk of piracy include:
- Configure your video's privacy settings so that only your intended audience can watch the video.
- If you are embedding your video on your website, use embed domain restriction to ensure your video does not get embedded elsewhere.
- Disable the ability for viewers to download your video from the video page.
Additional solutions for preventing unauthorized downloads include Digital Rights Management (DRM) or file encryption, which are features we do not currently offer on Vimeo's core platform due to their creating a substantial increase in the cost of hosting your videos. We want Vimeo to be as affordable as possible to as many people as possible.
If you need DRM, an Enterprise account on Vimeo OTT would be a better option for you.
