Download captions or subtitles from a video

To watch a downloaded video with captions or subtitles, the video must be available to download and it must contain a caption or subtitle file. Learn more at How to download a video.

To download the caption files to your computer, follow these steps:

1. 1. Log in to your account through Vimeo.com.
   2. Go to your library and select the video you’d like to download subtitles for
   3. Select Subtitles and audio from the left navigation tab

Once you’ve downloaded the files, you’ll need to use them with a media player that supports caption files. We recommend VLC because it is compatible with a wide range of operating systems and file formats. You can download it for free here.

Once you've installed VLC, follow these steps to watch your downloaded video with subtitles:

1. Open the downloaded video file in VLC Media Player.
2. From the menu, click Subtitles, then Add Subtitle File...
3. Select the downloaded .SRT file, click Open, and enjoy!
