How to fix failed uploads
If your video doesn't upload completely, try uploading it again. If it fails a second time, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Ensure that you're using the latest version of a supported browser.
- Check that your file follows our compression guidelines.
- Check for firewalls: If you are on a corporate or school network, ask your administrator to allowlist the following domains: *.vimeo.com, *.vimeocdn.com, *.akamaized.net, *.appspot.com, *.googleapis.com, *.google-analytics.com, and *.hopx.cedexis.com.
How to improve the connection speed for slow uploads
We do not limit upload speeds. If your upload is slower than expected, it may be due to local network traffic or ISP limitations.
Possible steps to improve connection speed include:
- Turn off ad blockers or any extensions that might interfere with the upload.
- Pause other bandwidth-heavy activities (e.g, streaming, gaming, etc.).
- Rebooting your modem and router.
- Switching from Wi-Fi to an Ethernet cable to rule out signal interference.
- Use a speed test tool to check your upload bandwidth.
- Internet speeds are measured in bits per second (Mbps), while file sizes are measured in bytes (MB). For example, a 500 MB file will take approximately 40 seconds to upload on a 100 Mbps connection.
💡Tip: Higher resolution videos may take longer to process. You may see standard definition versions first while the HD version finishes converting.
