How to customize the embedded player

This feature is available to all Vimeo users with access to embedded player settings.

You can customize the appearance and behavior of the video player when it is embedded on another website.

Open a video from your Library and select Appearance.
Open the Embed tab.
Apply settings under Branding, Engagement, Details, and Settings.
Select Save.

Player settings

You can configure autoplay, muted audio, the right-click menu, whether viewers can skip ahead, and looping from the Settings group. You can also set these defaults with an embed preset.

Autoplay and muted audio defaults can be set for every embed from one place.
You can turn off the share button and right-click menu to help prevent unwanted resharing.
Looping can be enabled from embed settings without editing embed code.
URL parameters such as loop=0, autoplay, muted, and background=1 are honored reliably.

Playback speed and captions

Viewers can change playback speed directly from the main control bar. When a video has multiple subtitle tracks, viewers can select their language from the CC menu. The CC button is hidden when a video has no captions.

Press and hold the player to temporarily play at 2× speed. The shortcut activates after 500–800 milliseconds and returns to normal speed when released.

Other embed settings

Color and branding settings apply to shared links as well as embeds. A per-embed setting can disable the debug and screen-capture menu. These settings apply to the embedded Vimeo player; third-party players may have their own controls.
