Create your Vimeo On Demand title
Once you’ve upgraded, you can create a new Vimeo On Demand title here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/create. You’ll want to decide if you’re selling a single film or a series of videos.
Customize your title
Add a title, description, and more to give future viewers an idea of what you’re selling. Upload your trailer and featured video(s) directly to the VOD page, or add them from your account if they’re already there. Then, upload a poster and customize the On Demand page to perfectly match your work.
⚠️Note: A single VOD container can contain up to 600 videos.
After that, get into the finer details: decide if you want to offer your work for rent, to buy, and/or as a subscription.
Set your prices, choose any additional settings (such as a rental period or available regions), or add some bonus features, and you’re ready to publish!
Bonus content is free by default, but you can choose to put it behind the paywall on a video-by-video basis. For example, you could offer some free bonus videos and others that can only be watched after your viewer purchases the title itself.
Share your Vimeo On Demand title
To share your VOD title:
- Navigate to your VOD title page.
- Click on the paper plane/share icon on the right top corner of your video player.
- Open the share modal and copy the URL to share your video as a link through social media, email or embedding it on other sites.
Get paid
We'll notify you every time you make a sale, and you'll get 90% of your sales after transaction fees in a PayPal payment once a month.
For example, a $10 VOD purchase from a viewer based in New York would get you about $7.80. (Taking out transaction fee of $0.48, applicable tax of $0.85, and revenue sharing of $0.87).
Selling options
Rent
Viewers can rent your videos for a period that you select, anywhere from one day to one year. People who rent your title can stream it during this time frame but don't have the option to download it.
If you add a "Rent All" option to your Vimeo On Demand page, it gives viewers access to any videos you've added to the VOD page, as well as any additional videos or bonus features you add during the specified viewing period. This can be anywhere from one day to one year from the date of the purchase.
Buy
Viewers can watch the title for as long as it remains on Vimeo. You can also offer the option for viewers to download the title to their computers and devices DRM-free. If you add a “Buy All” option to your Vimeo On Demand page, it gives viewers access to any videos you add to your VOD page, as well as any additional videos or bonus features you add in the future, for as long as your VOD page remains online.
Subscription
Viewers have unlimited streaming access to all current episodes and bonus features in your series for a recurring monthly fee. Active subscribers will also have access to any new episodes or extra videos you add to the series' page.
⚠️Note: VOD's can only be purchased via web.
⚠️Note: In some regions, there are limits to how customers can access VODs. These customers can access any VODs they’ve previously purchased, but for new VOD purchases, they will only be able to purchase via a direct link to the VOD.
