In March 2026, the Vimeo team investigated the use of Messages. In addition to being a largely unused feature, it also introduced unnecessary complexity and risk. As a result, Vimeo is discontinuing the Messages feature used for direct messaging between users.
The Message button has been removed from user profile pages, and the Compose Message button has been removed from the Messages page. Because of these changes, it is no longer possible to send new direct messages to other Vimeo users.
You can still view your existing message history at vimeo.com/messages for a limited time. A notice on the Messages page will also inform that Vimeo Messages will no longer be supported starting April 15, 2026.
On April 15, 2026, the Messages feature will be fully discontinued. At that time, the messages page and all message history will be permanently removed.
If there is information in your messages you would like to keep, we recommend saving it before this date.
