This applies only to paid users who aren't part of a team. If you're on a team, nothing changes — you keep My Library and Team Library as they are.
This feature is also being rolled out to a limited number of users. This article is only for you if you've seen the pop-up below in your account.
What's changing and what it means for you
For users on a paid plan without a team, your two separate spaces — My Library and Team Library — are being combined into one unified Library, where all your content lives together.
Previously, upgrading to a paid plan automatically moved your content into a shared Team library, which created confusion over what was personal versus shared. That's no longer the case:
- If you use Vimeo on your own, you work in a single space — your Library.
- The split between personal and shared content (My Library vs Team Library) appears only when you choose to collaborate by creating a team.
Depending on your account, this may have already happened or may be coming soon. You don't need to do anything.
What happens to your content
- Nothing is deleted. Every folder and video stays in one place instead of two.
- Privacy never changes. Public, password, and private links stay exactly as you set them.
- Want a team later? Invite someone and a Team Library comes back automatically.
The libraries at a glance
| Space | When you see it | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Library | When you use Vimeo on your own | A single space for all your content |
| My Library | When you're part of a team | Your personal content, kept separate from the team's |
| Team Library | When you're part of a team | Content shared with the people on your team |
If you use Vimeo on your own: your Library
When you work on your own, you have a single space: your Library.
- Everything you upload goes here.
- You don't need to create a team to use Vimeo: upgrading to a paid plan no longer forces you to.
- You keep a simple experience, with no separate team library, until you choose to create one.
Working with a team: what you can do
Creating a team: My Library and Team Library
The moment you decide to collaborate with others, you create a team. From then on, your space splits in two:
- My Library → your personal space. This is where the content you want to keep to yourself stays.
- Team Library → the space shared with your team members, designed for working together on the same content.
The Team Library isn't just "another personal folder": it exists specifically for sharing and collaboration. That's why it only appears once a team actually exists.
Good to know: creating a team isn't a permanent decision. If you change your mind later and you want to continue solo, you can go back to a single Library.
How to create a team and start collaborating
- Open your Library
- Select Start your team
- Follow the steps to set up your team
- When you're done, your Team Library is ready: from then on, you'll see My Library and Team Library as two separate spaces
- Invite the people you want to collaborate with
How to add content to the Team Library
- Upload new content directly to the Team Library, or move the content you want to share into the Team Library.
- The content you want to keep to yourself stays in your My Library.
Going back to a single library
If you're an admin and you remove your last collaborator, you can decide whether to merge the libraries back into one for a cleaner setup, or keep them divided in case you want to re-invite collaborators later without losing the split.
Either way, you can merge them later from the merge option in your Library.
If you merge, all the content from your My Library and Team Library comes together inside the Library, at the same level — there are no longer two separate spaces, and your content all lives in one place.
FAQs
Do I need to create a team to use a paid plan?
No. Creating a team is optional. If you work on your own, you keep using your Library just like before, even on a paid plan.
What's the difference between My Library and Team Library?
Your My Library is your personal space. The Team Library is the space shared with the people on your team, designed for collaboration. You only see both when you're part of a team.
Is the content in My Library visible to others?
Your My Library is your personal space and isn't shown to the others within your team.
What happens to my content when I create a team?

Does moving a video between libraries change who can see it?
Externally no, your privacy settings will stay exactly the same.
Internally yes, the video will be visible to your team members, where before it wasn't, to allow collaboration on the same file.
