Folder upload presets let folder editors set default link privacy, embed settings, and download settings for a folder. Every video that is subsequently uploaded or created in that folder automatically gets those settings, so you no longer need to correct settings video by video after upload.
Note: Folder upload presets are automatically enabled for all Enterprise workspaces at no extra charge. Managing a folder's defaults requires Can manage permission on that folder (contributor role or above).
What a folder preset controls
Open the Folder defaults modal on a folder to set:
- Link privacy, including password protection.
- Embed availability, including allowed embed domains.
- Whether downloads are allowed.
How to set folder defaults
- Open the folder's options menu and select Folder defaults.
- Set the link privacy, embed, and download settings you want for the folder.
- When you save, choose whether the defaults apply to the folder only or to its subfolders too.
- Select Save.
Where folder defaults appear
- Folder menu: the Folder defaults item opens the defaults modal for Enterprise accounts.
- Folder page: folders with their own defaults show a Custom defaults label in the header.
- Library: folder cards and list rows get a hover action to open the folder's defaults directly.
How defaults are applied
- Vimeo applies the folder's defaults automatically when a video is created in it, and they take precedence over account-level defaults.
- Subfolders inherit the parent's defaults unless they set their own. When you save, you choose whether the defaults apply to the folder only or to its subfolders too.
- Moving an existing video into a folder does not change its settings. Defaults apply at upload time only.
- Existing videos are never changed.
- You can reset a folder back to account defaults at any time, optionally for all subfolders at once.
- Videos added to the folder with other tools also respect the defaults.
- Privacy options that your account is not allowed to use are hidden from the folder defaults window.
Account defaults and custom folder defaults
When a user changes account-level privacy defaults and applies them to existing videos while custom folder defaults exist, a dialog lets them keep or reset those folders, with a picker to choose exactly which folders to sync.
