Live event broadcasters can invite viewers to join the event as audience speakers. A viewer can ask to join, and once the host accepts the request, the viewer is added to the live room and can interact with the rest of the speakers. When they are done, the host returns them to the viewer role.
Note: This feature is an add-on, available to all Enterprise customers. Contact your account manager for full access.
Who can use audience speaking
Event broadcasters can turn audience speaking on and off. The option is available to viewers who are watching the event on vimeo.com.
How to enable audience speaking
- Open your live event in the web-based production tool.
- Open the speaker panel.
- Turn on the option that lets viewers ask to join the event.
- When a viewer asks to join, accept or decline the request in the speaker panel, below the list of current speakers.
- When the speaker is done, return them to the viewer role.
How viewers ask to join
When you enable audience speaking, viewers who are watching on vimeo.com see an option to request to join the live event. If you use an embedded player, the option to enable audience speaking is still available in the speaker panel. However, once it is enabled, it indicates that the feature only works for events watched on vimeo.com and not on embedded players.
