How to create a custom URL
You can create a custom URL from your video settings page. To do so:
- Navigate to the video settings page from your Library by clicking on the desired video.
Select the Share button in the upper right of the video settings page. This will open the Share panel on the right-side of the screen.
Select on the Edit option under the Link section.
-
In the field labeled Edit, enter the desired custom URL for your video, consisting of only letters or numbers. You will need to add the custom portion after your username.
⚠️Note: Custom video URLs cannot be embedded.
- Select the Copy link button to copy the custom link to your clipboard.
💡Tip: The format of custom video URLs is vimeo.com/username/thecustompart. For example, a video on our staff account about the Vimeo player has the custom URL: vimeo.com/staff/player.
Which privacy settings are available for custom URLs?
Custom URLs work for all privacy settings. Keep in mind that depending on the privacy you choose, the link may not be sharable to others. For example, setting a video to Private still allows you to set up a custom URL but the link wouldn't be sharable.
Does the Vimeo app support custom URLs?
On mobile devices, shared custom URLs will have to be opened in a mobile web browser rather than the Vimeo app.
⚠️Note: If you are a Basic or Free user, you do not have access to create new custom URLs or to edit previously existing ones. Instead, you will be prompted to upgrade your account to access this feature.
