Using RTMP, you can easily simulcast your Vimeo stream to Twitch so that viewers can access your live content from their preferred destination.
In this article:
Add your stream key
- To simulcast to a Twitch channel, start by creating your event on Vimeo.
-
On the event's Live Settings page, navigate to the Destinations menu, then click Add next to RTMP.
- This will bring up a modal where you’ll be able to input the name of the destination, the RTMP URL to send the stream to, and a Stream Key to authenticate this stream.
Steps on Twitch
-
On Twitch, navigate to the main menu and navigate to the Creator Dashboard. From there, open the hamburger menu on the left side, and select Settings > Stream.
- Your stream key is here. Click Copy next to the stream key. Remember not to share it with anyone.
- Next, select the RTMP URL for your simulcasted stream. For the best experience, we recommend the RTMP URL for either of the US East Coast Twitch Ingest Servers here:
rtmp://live-iad03.twitch.tv/app/{stream_key}
rtmp://live-iad05.twitch.tv/app/{stream_key} - Now that you have both your RTMP URL and Stream Key, return to the Destinations tab on your live event settings page on Vimeo and paste them into the RTMP modal. You will need to paste the Stream Key in twice – first over the “{stream key}” portion of the RTMP URL, then in the Stream Key field itself.
Remember that your encoder settings should include the RTMP URL and Stream Key from Vimeo, not Twitch. When you’re ready, follow the regular workflow to go live on Vimeo; it will automatically simulcast to Twitch.
