Creating a venue requires an Enterprise account with the Events add-on.
Depending on how you configure your Space settings, attendees may be observers or participants. Observers cannot turn on their cameras and microphones unless you invite them to, while participants can turn their camera and mics off and on and may be able to stream to a stage.

How to change permissions for all attendees
You can change permissions for all attendees in Space settings. See the steps below to learn how.
-
You can access the Space settings panel by tapping on the pencil icon located on the space’s logo or by tapping on the three-dot menu on the action bar and then Edit this space.
- By toggling on Chat, all attendees can participate in the main group chat and use Giphy reactions.
- When on, the Open mic enables attendees to turn on their microphones.
- The toggle for the Open stage allows attendees to participate by sharing their screen, webcam, or streaming to the stage.
- Turn on Allow raise hand if you would like to moderate participation by allowing attendees to ask to turn their microphones.
How to change permissions for one attendee
You can change some permissions for a particular attendee on their user profile.
-
- Select the attendee’s avatar to access their user profile.
-
Go to the three-dot menu to see a list of options:
- Ban from venue will remove the attendee from your venue and prevent them from entering with the same login credentials.
-
Invite to speak will send the attendee a notification to prompt them to enable their mic and cam or just mic only.
⚠️Note: This option will say Mute mic & cam if the attendee is currently a participant. Mute and invite to speak are also found as a separate button at the bottom of the user profile.
- Make host will make the attendee the new host of the space and give them full access to all controls.
- Delete will remove the attendee but not prevent them from joining again. This is useful if someone has accidentally joined on two devices or does not know how to exit the venue.
- Select the attendee’s avatar to access their user profile.
Attendee permissions in Advanced Settings
Within Venue settings, you can find more permissions for attendees.
-
- Select the gear wheel icon in the top right corner of your venue to access global venue settings.
-
Go to Advanced Settings.
-
Scroll down to find the following toggles:
- Direct message - Attendees can send direct messages to each other.
- Closed captioning - Attendees can turn on closed captioning.
