What to know before translating
Before translating, take note of the following:
- Cost: Visit About AI Credits to learn about the costs involved with AI translations.
-
Voice Options: You can choose between two main types of voices:
- Original Voice: This option uses AI to replicate the original speaker's voice in the new, translated language. Sometimes, a cloned voice might not be available, especially for specific regional accents.
- AI Voice: These are high-quality, pre-recorded voices from professional voice actors that you can use for your translations.
- Previews: Before committing to a complete translation, you can generate a free audio preview to hear how your selected voice sounds.
How to select a regional accent for your AI-dubbed audio
You can choose an accent when you translate your video for supported languages. To do so:
- From your video's settings page, select the Vimeo AI button on the left-side toolbar.
- Select Translate video.
- Select audio and subtitles and Continue.
- From the Select Languages dropdown menu, choose the language that you want to translate your video into.
- If the selected language has regional variations, a second dropdown menu will appear. Select the desired regional accent (e.g., Portuguese (African)).
- Next, select the voice for your dubbed audio from the Voice dropdown menu. You can choose between "Cloned voice", which attempts to replicate the original voice in the video, or select from the library of preset voices.
- The voice cloning feature is not yet available for all regional accents.
- Once you have made your selections, you can either:
- Select Preview to generate a short, free sample of the dubbed video.
- Select Translate to begin the translation and dubbing process for the entire video.
- Once complete, the translated and dubbed video will be available. The regional accent will be displayed in the Languages menu of your video's settings, where you can add additional translations if needed.
