We are aware of recent phishing attempts in which malicious actors are sending emails that falsely appear to come from a Vimeo address. These emails are not associated with or sent by Vimeo.
These fraudulent emails may claim that a payment has been deducted from your PayPal account for a Vimeo subscription. They sometimes include a fake invoice or transaction ID and amount and urge you to click a link or view an attachment.
If you receive such a message, do not click any links, open attachments, or provide personal or payment information.
How to Verify an Email is from Vimeo
1. Come directly to Vimeo
Check your billing status or transaction history by:
- Logging in at vimeo.com and navigating to Billing Settings.
- Any legitimate charge from Vimeo will appear in your account.
2. Verify the sender and links before you click
- Authentic Vimeo emails come from addresses ending in @vimeo.com.
- A legitimate link from Vimeo will direct you to a URL that starts with https://vimeo.com/.
- If the link points to an unfamiliar or misspelled domain, then do not click it.
3. Handle email safely
- Vimeo uses email authentication protocols (DMARC, DKIM, SPF) to inform receiving email servers whether a message is valid or not, and how to handle invalid messages.
- If you manage email servers, please ensure they are configured to follow these standards and appropriately flag or reject fraudulent emails.
If you receive a suspicious message that appears to be from Vimeo, please report it through Vimeo Support. We appreciate those who have taken the time to report such activity and help protect our community. See more tips for keeping your Vimeo account secure.
