Getting Started With Create
The number of videos that can be published is based on your Vimeo membership. Not sure which plan type you have? Check “Membership” in the upper left corner of your account settings.
To begin creating your new video with Create, you can hover over the "New video" button and click on "Create a video" from the dropdown menu.
You can then create a video from an existing template or create your own.
Templates
You can use keywords to search for a template if you have an idea of what kind of video you want (note: the search only works in English at this time).
Once you’ve selected a template, you will be taken directly to the editor where you can further customize your video.
Once you’re done customizing the template slides with your own text and images, click “Save and preview” to be taken to your preview page. From there, you can watch your creation and it will be automatically added to your Library. You can make changes to your video by clicking on "Edit video" or delete or make a copy of it by clicking on the three dots.
Creating your own video.
There are two sections that need to be completed in order to initiate the video creation process:
- Storyboard
The storyboard section is where you will select the media items for your video. You can choose from existing media, such as the Getty stock library (Pro, Business, and Premium users) and videos you’ve previously uploaded to your Vimeo library. You can also upload new content by connecting your Google Photos account, or by uploading clips directly from your computer. All of the content you select will show up in the storyboard at the bottom of the page. Supported media types include:
Photo file types: JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, PNG
Video file types: 3GP, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, M2TS
Once you've selected all the media you want for your video, you will be taken to the storyboard where you can reorganize and delete the media, and add messages to go with the clips or images. At the top right corner, you'll see three icons: the Brand Kit (Business and Premium), the orientation icon, and the duration icon. You can click on the button marked 'Brand' to bring up the brand kit where you can upload custom logos, change fonts, and choose specific color palettes. The orientation icon will allow you to select the orientation, and the duration icon will allow you to set the duration of the video. You can also set both to “auto” which will let our system decide based on what would look best for the completed video. - Music
You can choose from preexisting music, which is available to use on any Vimeo video, on or off the site. You can also upload your own music by clicking on the button in the upper right corner of the modal window marked ‘Upload your music’. You can also choose not to add any music to your video. If you choose to upload your own songs, you’ll see a pop-up window that asks you to agree that you own said music or have obtained the proper license to incorporate it into your videos.
Please be aware that videos with custom music cannot be made public on Vimeo or any of the Vimeo apps, even if you’ve obtained the necessary licensing. They can only be downloaded or published on social. The only available privacy setting for videos with custom music is “Private.” This type of privacy setting can work for teams who are collaborating on a single account (such as Enterprise-level teams). Read more about privacy settings at 'Overview of video privacy settings'. Videos that are locked to “Private” can be embedded, however, please note that no one apart from yourself will be able to watch the clip.
Accepted audio file types: MP3, MP4, WMA, ADTS, OGG, WAV, WAVE.
Once you’ve finished your selections, click Preview and a preview of your video will begin generating before it is saved.
Once your video has been saved, it will become a video in your video manager.
If you’d like to make any changes, just click on the Edit video button to proceed to the editor. Your video will remain available for further editing even after the video is uploaded to your account.
To remove videos, click the dotted menu and Delete. To make a copy of your video, click on the dotted menu (⋯) and Make a copy.
