Users on a paid Vimeo plan can record a maximum of 120 minutes per video. Users on a Free or Basic plan can record a maximum of 30 minutes per video.
While using the Record desktop app, you do not need to have a web browser open. The control menu can be completely minimized during recording so that it does not interfere with your content. Additionally, you can customize keyboard shortcuts to navigate the app without opening the menu.

How to record a video with the Record desktop app
After selecting your settings for your recording, select the Start recording button on the main menu or the red record button on the panel to the left of your screen.
When you are done recording, select the Stop recording button (a red square) on the panel to the left of your screen. You can also choose to restart your recording or cancel/delete your recording.
When you’ve finished your recording it will be saved to your selected folder in your Library.
Customizable desktop shortcuts are also available to navigate while you record without needing the menu to be open on your screen.
How to edit your Record video
Once your recording has finished uploading to your Vimeo account, you can trim your video, edit it with the video editor, or turn it into an embeddable GIF. - From your Library, select the thumbnail of your recording.
- From the video’s settings page, on the left-side toolbar, select the Edit button represented by the icon displaying a pair of scissors.
- Select Text-based trimmer to trim your video or use text-based video editing. Learn more at ‘How can I trim my videos?‘.
