This feature requires an Enterprise plan.
This article explains how to utilize Vimeo AI for translating both the audio and subtitles of your video.
Team members on select Vimeo Enterprise plans can use Vimeo AI credits to both translate the subtitles and audio of their AI-eligible video. The Enterprise account Owner must activate this feature before team members can access it.
For Enterprise accounts with Workspaces: Workspace Admins can manage access to this feature for videos uploaded to the Workspace. For additional information, visit About the Vimeo AI settings page.

How translations are priced
The total cost of your translation is calculated as: 20 credits per minute x Video length (minutes) x Number of languages selected
Example: A 2-minute video translated into three languages
20 credits per minute x 2 minutes x 3 languages
Total cost = 120 credits
Translating your video's audio and subtitles
You can translate your videos and subtitles into multiple languages.
To translate your video's subtitles:
- Select the Vimeo AI button
from the left-side toolbar.
- You can also access it by selecting "Languages" from a video's page and selecting "Generate."
- Select Translate video.
- Select Audio/Subtitles.
- Select the languages that you would like to translate your video into.
- Confirm the cost of your translation. You can begin the translation process if you have enough credits left in your AI credit balance. If you do not, you will be prompted to purchase the required AI credits.
The time it takes for your video to translate is roughly proportional to its length. For instance, a 5-minute video will take approximately 5 minutes to generate a translation.
You can edit the video's description from the Languages menu of the video's settings.
After, you can download language-specific versions of your video if it has multiple audio tracks in different languages. Learn how to do so at How to download language-specific versions of my videos.
When to add translation to your video workflow
We recommend translating your video once you are confident that no further edits are needed.
If you edit your video's script after using AI translation, you must manually edit the transcript for each text track in the Languages menu of the video’s subtitles. They will not update automatically.
Additionally, if you edit your video using the following tools, you will need to re-translate it, as translations are not updated automatically.
- Editor
- Trimmer
- Text-based video editor
- If you replace your video
You will not receive a refund for additional translations required to reflect changes made to your video after the original translation process is completed.
Translate and dub multiple videos at once
You can generate subtitle translations and dubbed audio for multiple videos in a single action directly from your Library.
- In your Library, check the box next to each video you want to translate and dub, or select a folder to include all videos in it.
- In the bulk actions toolbar that appears, select Translate and dub.
- Choose the language or languages you want to translate and dub into.
- Select Start to begin generating the translations and dubbed audio tracks.
The translations and dubbed audio will process in the background. You'll receive a notification when they're ready.

Automate audio dubbing and translation via API — Enterprise users can also trigger audio translations and dubbing via the Vimeo AI API. This is useful for building automated localization pipelines. See How to use the Vimeo AI API for details.
