How to enable or disable comments on your videos
You can enable or disable comments on your own videos by navigating to your video and clicking the comments icon on the panel to the right.
How to leave a comment
You can leave a comment on any video that has commenting enabled. Scroll down below the player to find the new comment module.
You can leave a video comment by including a link to a public Vimeo video in your response, or by clicking the record icon to make a new video which will be embedded into your comment.
💡Tip: You can reply to another user’s comment with a link to a public video but you can not record a video response in a reply to another user’s comment.
You can click the options menu (•••) on any comment in this panel to see more options, such as copying a link to that video’s comment to your clipboard (you can also click on a comment to select it, then copy the URL from your browser). This will allow you to send a link to that video with that comment open and highlighted to someone else.
How to mention team members in a comment
You can use the "at" (@) symbol to tag team members in a comment on video pages. Type the "@" symbol followed by at least 3 characters to bring up a list of team members you can mention. You can mention up to 10 team members in a single comment.
Mentioned users will receive an email notifying them of the comment. As an Admin or Owner, if you try to mention a user who isn't on your team, you will be able to invite them to join as a Viewer.
Admins and Owners can also share a resource with an existing team member in a mention. Viewers and Contributors can mention any team member but may need an Admin or Owner to share the video if the mentioned user does not already have access.
How to reply to a comment
You can reply to a comment (or another reply) by clicking Reply in the lower right corner of the comment.
HTML won’t work in a comment, but you can share links. You can also use timestamps to send a viewer right to a specific section of your video. For example, writing "2:32" in the description will send a viewer to the two-minute, 32-second mark after the video loads. Please note: timestamps do not work for comments on Vimeo On Demand videos.
How to delete a comment
If you want to fully remove a comment from your video, you can click the options menu (•••), then click Delete.
This will also remove any replies to that comment. As the video owner, you can delete any comments on your video. Any user is able to delete their own comments as well.
💡Tip: If comments on the video are disabled, this option may be missing. Temporarily enabling comments will allow for deletion.
How to resolve comments
To resolve a comment, hover to the left of the options menu (•••) and select the checkmark icon that will appear within the circle.
Please note that if the comment has additional direct replies, resolving the initial comment will also resolve all of the replies. Your viewers can toggle on the option to see any resolved comments, but they won’t be able to interact with them.
Please keep comments respectful and free from spam. Check out our Community Guidelines for more info.
