You can add chapters that will appear during the playback of your embedded videos and in showcases, as well as on Vimeo.com. Chapters are ideal for long-form content like lessons, training sessions, sermons, recitals, sports games, and narrative storytelling. Adding chapters helps your viewer create a self-guided viewing experience, and allows them to easily navigate to relevant segments to find content faster.
You’ll also be able to see which chapters get the highest engagement and track engagement rates by chapter.

How to add chapters to your video
- To add chapters to your video, select the Interactivity settings tab on the video page. Then, choose Chapters.
- Under the Chapters section, click + Add a chapter.
- You can enter a title for your chapter by clicking into "Chapter 1" and typing.
- Edit the timestamp for when you want it to be placed in your video and on the progress bar by clicking into the preset timestamp.
- Select Add chapters to keep going. You can add up to one chapter per second to your video.
- Once you’re done editing your chapters, hit the Save button.
Editing chapters
To edit an existing chapter, you can select the chapter’s title or timestamp and edit the text box.
Removing chapters
To remove a chapter, hover over the chapter you want to remove and hit the garbage can icon. Remember to hit Apply to save your changes.
Limitations:
- One Vimeo video has a limit of 100 chapters
- Chapter titles are limited to 50 characters
Viewing chapters on desktop vs. mobile
Chapters are only supported on a Desktop viewing experience. On mobile devices, the chapter markers aren’t visible, only the chapters menu is.
Analytics for chapters
Chapters will also appear in your analytics section so you can match the graphs to where your users are engaging the most.
