Prerequisites
Users must be an Admin or Contributor, and must have can manage or can edit access to the Folder, to set up Slack notifications. Vimeo’s Slack integration is supported for folders housed in the Library and a user’s Personal Space if configured on your account (Private to Me or My Videos).
How to configure your Slack integration
- Navigate to your Library or Personal Space (Private to Me or My Videos).
- Hover over a folder and select the options menu (⋯) to the right or navigate to the (⋯) from within the folder.
- Select Connect to Slack from the dropdown menu.
- A modal will appear prompting you to connect the folder to Slack. Select Connect to continue.

On the next step, you will see a modal that includes (1) granting Vimeo’s Slack app with the appropriate permissions to send data from your Vimeo account to your Slack workspace (2) selecting the Slack Channel where you would like to receive notifications. Both steps are required for the connection to be valid. Once you have selected the Slack Channel, please click Allow to authorize the connection.

Once connected, you can choose which type of updates get pushed to Slack and in what language.
- Once configured, click Save to preserve your configuration.

You can manage the Slack connection for each folder after its initial configuration by selecting Slack settings from the folder options menu. These options include changing the Slack channel, modifying the notifications that are linked to Slack, or disconnecting it entirely.
How to disconnect your Slack integration
To disconnect your Slack integration navigate to https://vimeo.com/settings/apps.
- Find the Slack integration listed on the page.

Hover on the Connected button and toggle to Disconnect.
- You will see a prompt to confirm that you wish to disconnect Slack from the connected folders.

Select Disconnect.
How to update your Slack app
Vimeo pushes updates to our Slack application to preserve the integrity of the product, adopt new Slack APIs and scopes, and maintain security protocols. Users with the Vimeo Slack App connected will receive notifications to prompt an upgrade. Slack App Managers are required to approve the application update for all users within their workspace.

When Vimeo makes an update to our Slack integration, users who installed the app will receive this message via their connected Slack channels prompting them to upgrade:
Vimeo x Slack integration update
We’ve made some changes to our integration to reflect Slack’s latest API updates. Please contact your Slack App Manager to update your company’s Vimeo x Slack integration by following these steps.
Users who are connecting their Slack integration to new folders will receive a prompt to reinstall the application. This workflow will require that the user submit a request to their App Managers to upgrade their application.
App Managers and Administrators
App Managers and administrators must upgrade the Vimeo Slack App on behalf of all users in their Slack workspace by following these steps:
- Navigate to Vimeo’s Slack App listing.
- Review the changes to the application listed on the page.
- Select Approve for Workspace. You will see a confirmation that the app has been Approved for [Workspace].
Additional information
Please note the following:
- People in your connected Slack channel who are not on your team, or have not been granted access to the folder, may see updates for a video that they cannot access on Vimeo. Be sure to add them as a team member to your folder so that everyone can collaborate.
- Please note that only Account Owners, Admins, and Contributors can access folder settings and manage access.
