Embedding your video allows you to extend its reach and increase its visibility. This article will guide you through the steps to embed your video on external sites as well as setting up your video’s embed privacy, ensuring a smooth integration.

How to embed my video
Follow these steps to embed your video outside of vimeo.com:
- Make sure your video is embeddable. Navigate to your Library, select a video to open the video settings page, then select the Share button in the upper right corner. Under Privacy, check that the Embeddable toggle is turned on. You’ll also find this toggle at the top of the Embed panel. Embeddable videos count towards your Managed storage.
- Select the Embed option at the bottom of the Share panel.
- The Embed panel will open with the HTML code.
- By default, this code is for a Responsive player, but you can manually configure the embedded player’s size (in pixels) if you wish. To do so, select the Fixed option in the Size section and enter your desired player size.
- You can also customize the playback of your embedded video. Under the Playback section, you can enable Autoplay, Mute, and Loop.
⚠️Note: Custom video URLs cannot be embedded.
- Select Copy embed code to copy the HTML code to your clipboard, which you can then paste into your website’s HTML editor.
- Any future changes you make to your video, such as its appearance settings, will automatically apply to the embedded player. You will not need to re-embed your video.
How to manage where my video can be embedded
You can control whether your video can be viewed elsewhere besides vimeo.com. You can embed a video with any privacy setting, as long as Embeddable is turned on. If the video is set to Private, only people with access can watch the embedded video.
The Embeddable toggle and the Where can this be embedded? setting work together. Turning Embeddable off sets the video to Nowhere, and choosing Nowhere turns Embeddable off. Turning Embeddable back on sets the video to Anywhere.
- Make sure your video is embeddable. Navigate to your Library, select a video to open the video settings page, then select the Share button in the upper right corner. Under Privacy, check that the Embeddable toggle is turned on.
- Select the Embed option at the bottom of the Share panel.
- Under the Where can this be embedded? section, select the drop-down and choose between Anywhere, Nowhere, and Specific domains.
- Anywhere: Anyone can embed your video onto any page on the internet.
- Nowhere: No one, including you and your team members, can embed your video anywhere. It will only be viewable on vimeo.com. This also turns Embeddable off, so if the video is Public, it no longer counts towards your Managed storage.

Specific domains (available on Core, Professional, Studio, and Enterprise): After you select this option, add your website’s domain (mysite.com) or subdomain (subdomain.mysite.com) in the text field that appears below the dropdown menu; be sure to click the (+) to add it. You can specify and manage up to 50 domains where your video can be embedded.
- Note that when adding a domain, such as vimeo.com, to the “specific domains” list, all subdomains directly under it, including project.vimeo.com, will be automatically included. However, subdomains at further levels, like example.project.vimeo.com, will not be covered by this setting.
- Wildcard characters are not supported.
- Your selection will save automatically.
