What are the requirements for my video to work best with Vimeo’s AI features?
Videos that work best with Vimeo AI must be over 2 minutes long and contain at least 100 words of spoken English and no music. Examples of videos that work best include recordings of meetings, presentations, town halls, interviews, and tutorials.
In terms of Vimeo AI’s ability to work across languages, we support English to the best of our transcript’s ability to detect English through our third party provider, Rev. In certain scenarios where we believe the transcript may have gotten the language wrong, (i.e. an English transcript was perceived as non-English), we bypass the system and allow users to continue using our AI capabilities.
In terms of our support for other languages, if our transcript detects a foreign language other than English, the AI might produce unpredictable results but you would still be able to proceed with using our AI tools despite this warning.
What would prevent my video from not generating a transcript?
If your video is at least 2 minutes long and contains at least 100 words of spoken English, contains no music, and you are receiving an error message stating that the video is missing a transcript, the following may prevent a transcript from being generated or our AI capabilities not working:
- You created or uploaded the video while on a Free or Basic plan, as we only auto-generate transcripts for paid plans.
- This also applies if you previously had a Free or Basic plan where you created or uploaded a video on that plan, but now have an Advanced, Premium, or Enterprise plan, as we do not auto-generate transcripts from videos that were uploaded on Free or Basic
- The English language in your video was misidentified as another language.
What would prevent my video from not being able to use Vimeo AI?
If your video is under 2 minutes long and doesn't contain at least 100 words, you will see an error message preventing you from proceeding with using our tools.
