This article explains how to transfer videos between two self-serve Vimeo accounts
In this article:
What to know before transferring videos
Before requesting a transfer, please take note of the following limitations and requirements:
- For Enterprise users: This process described in this article applies to Vimeo self-serve plans. If you are migrating one or more Vimeo self-serve accounts to an Enterprise account, you will work with our Implementation team.
- When videos are moved to the new account, they will no longer be available on the old account. Video links and embeds: Each video keeps its URL and video ID after the transfer, so embeds and links you've already shared on other websites keep working without any changes. Only Review page URLs change (see below).
- Storage: Once the transfer is complete, the transferred videos count against the destination account's storage limit.
-
We require the profile URL and primary login email of both accounts to complete the Transfer Agreement.
- For security purposes, each account holder must reply from their own primary login email before the transfer can go ahead. Being on the thread, or CC'd, is not enough.
-
The following are not transferable between accounts:
- Analytics: Your videos will lose their existing Analytics and will start from scratch in the new account.
- Collections: We cannot move collections between accounts (Channels, Groups, Showcases, Folders, etc.), nor can we transfer videos between collections.
- Purchases: We cannot transfer purchases (paid memberships, AI Credits, or VODs) between accounts.
- Review pages: Your review page URLs will change and include the username of the account where your videos are being transferred.
- VOD (Vimeo On Demand): If the videos you want to transfer are active VOD titles, you must unpublish and delete the container page where people can buy and watch your VODs before we transfer the videos. Please note that new VOD pages can no longer be created, and Vimeo On Demand will fully shut down on November 20, 2026 — see the VOD shutdown notice and sellers FAQ for full details. If you want to keep selling your videos, we recommend Vimeo OTT.
- Live events: We cannot transfer live events or settings for live events between accounts.
- Embed presets: Presets don't move with the videos. Any settings already applied to a video stay as they are, but the preset itself isn't available on the destination account.
- Vimeo Create videos: Videos made with Vimeo Create don't transfer as part of the standard move. If you need them included, send us their URLs before the transfer starts and we'll route that part to the Vimeo Create team.
How to transfer videos between accounts
We can transfer videos from one account to another with proper verification by submitting a Support ticket. When choosing the feature, select Managing videos, then select Downloading videos for the category.
To initiate the transfer, copy and paste the agreement below into the body of a support ticket and fill in the applicable information as follows:
Vimeo Transfer Agreement
My name is [FULL NAME], and I would like to transfer videos between two accounts that I own.
Please move videos out of this account: [PROFILE URL] + [MAIN EMAIL]
Please move the videos into this account: [PROFILE URL] + [MAIN EMAIL]
I would like to move the following videos: [SPECIFIC VIDEO IDS or STATE "ALL VIDEOS UNDER FIRST ACCOUNT"]
I understand all the terms of the video transfer, including the fact that all of my current video stats will be lost.
The agreement starts the process; it isn't, by itself, what authorises the move. We'll then contact each account at its primary login email, and each account holder must reply from that address before the transfer can go ahead. Sending only the agreement, or being CC'd, is not enough.
Keep in mind that, as part of the transfer process, all transferred videos arrive in the main library (root folder) of your destination account and their privacy settings are automatically reset to Private / Embed only. From there, you can re-organize them into folders or adjust their privacy settings as needed. A transfer is irreversible from your point of view — analytics reset to zero, folder structure is lost, and review-page URLs change — so treat it with the same care as deleting an account.
If the original owner has left and can't confirm the move, this is handled differently: we verify at the domain level (typically security@domain, ideally confirmed by two or three people at the company), rather than through the Transfer Agreement. Contact us and we'll guide that review.
