What to know about downloading permissions
Before you change download settings, take note of the following:
- Viewers can only download your video from the video's page on vimeo.com. It is not currently possible for viewers to download your video from the embedded player.
- As the video owner, you will always see the download button on your video page, regardless of your download settings.
- For Enterprise accounts with Workspaces: This feature can be managed by a Workspace Admin for videos uploaded to the Workspace. Read more at 'How to edit my Workspace's settings'.
How to change download settings for an individual video
You can allow or disallow downloads for a particular video. To do so:
- Navigate to your Library.
- Select the video you want to change to open its settings page.
- Select Share in the top-right corner.
- In the Viewer permissions section, toggle the Downloads switch on or off.
How to change downloading permissions for future uploads
You can remove the ability to download for all your existing videos and/or future uploads. To do so:
- Visit the Upload Defaults page in your Account Settings.
- Under "What can people do with your videos?", check or uncheck the box to the left of Download them.
- When you check or uncheck the box, the menu will expand, allowing you to apply this setting to all your existing videos. Check or uncheck the box next to "Also apply to existing videos" to do so.
- Select Save.
