Users on a paid Vimeo plan can record a maximum of 120 minutes per video. Users on a Free or Basic plan can record a maximum of 30 minutes per video.
You can use the Record Studio to record a video using Vimeo. In the studio, you can record your camera, microphone, or your screen. Your recording will save to your Library where you can share it as is or further enhance it using Vimeo AI or the Editor.

Setting up your recording
You can use the input control toolbar in the Record Studio to record your camera, microphone, or share all or part of your screen. You can set up a teleprompter to read your script or talking points directly from the screen. You can customize the layout or canvas background for your recording.

Recording a video
To record a video in the Record Studio:
- After entering the Record Studio, select which camera and microphone you would like to use in your recording from the input control bar under the canvas.
- If you would like to share your screen, select the Share Screen button. Here, you can select which screen, window, or browser tab you would like to record.
- If you would like to write a script to use for the teleprompter in your recording, select the Teleprompter button. Learn more at ‘How do I use the teleprompter in the Record Studio?’
- If you would like to use the Picture-in-Picture feature, select the Picture-in-Picture button to show the popout window. Learn more about the Picture-in-Picture feature below.
- After making your selections, select the Start Recording button in the top right corner of the screen.
- A countdown screen will appear for you to prepare for recording. If you are using a teleprompter, the text will begin to scroll.
- When you have finished your record, select the Stop Recording in the top right corner. You can also select the pause button to pause or unpause the recording, the restart button to restart your recording, and the trash icon to delete your recording.
- Your video will save to your selected folder. While it is optimizing, if you decide that you would like to retake your recording, select the Retake button to return to the Record Studio.
Picture-in-Picture
⚠️Note: This feature is available when using the Studio on Google Chrome.
You can use the Picture-in-Picture feature in the Record Studio to open a resizable, repositionable window with tools from Record. This window will stay at the top of your screen, allowing you to navigate to other programs and control your recording without looking at the Record Studio screen.
To use Picture-in-Picture:
- Select the Picture-in-Picture button at the bottom toolbar in the Record Studio.
- A resizable, repositionable window will appear showing a preview of your display for your recording.
💡Tip: If the Picture-in-Picture window is too small, you will be prompted to resize the window. Select and drag the corners of the window to resize it.
f - Select Start Recording to begin recording. A countdown will begin before your recording will begin.
- A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the window that lets you:
- Restart the recording
- Delete the recording
- Pause the recording
- Stop the recording
- View the timestamp of the recording
- When you are done recording, select the button displaying the timestamp of your recording.
💡Tip: If you are unable to see a preview of your recording in the Picture-in-Picture box, then the size of the box is too small. Resizing the box to make it larger will expand the preview.
