-
Skippable - Choose if you want the bumper to be skippable. If selected the viewer will be able to Skip the bumper after a 5-second countdown. If not selected, the viewer will need to watch the entire bumper video before the main video plays.
- Setting a bumper campaign to Skippable will show the text “Skip AD” and ad counter “AD:(0:01)” This text cannot be customized. If you do not want to show “Skip Ad” text, do not enable skippable functionality.

Targeted Categories - By default, bumpers will play before all videos on your site. You can target your campaign to specific videos by associating it with a “Dynamic Category” Any video inside of the selected Dynamic Category will play the associated bumper. The Dynamic Category does not need to be set to published and can be used exclusively for targeting.
- Note if the same video is in multiple categories, it will play back on that video within all categories. If multiple bumper campaigns target the same video, each bumper will play on that video in a random order (up to 5 bumpers on one video).
5. Assets Tab - Select the + Add Assets button and a pop-up will appear where you can choose which video will run as the bumper in your campaign. **For Alpha, you can only add one asset per campaign*
On the Basic tier, only videos up to 10 seconds long can be selected as bumper assets. On the Advanced tier, videos up to 10 minutes long can be selected as bumper assets. Videos do not need to be published to be used as a bumper asset.
6. Navigate back to the settings tab and select the “Activate” toggle to set your bumpers campaign live.
Key Concepts:
There are a few key terms and concepts to keep in mind when developing your bumper campaigns. We’ve collected the most important below.
- Campaign: Campaigns are how you organize and manage the bumpers that run across your site, including choosing the assets and targeting and viewing impressions.
-
Assets: Assets are the actual bumper videos that run before or after content. One campaign can have multiple assets within it, and one of the assets will be shown at random when a campaign serves an impression.
- One campaign will never serve multiple assets to a viewer, it will always select one of the assets to play.
-
Impression: An impression is a play of an individual bumper. If multiple campaigns target the same content, then each bumper that plays before that content will count as a separate impression.
- When a viewer begins playing a bumper, the impression is counted. Enterprise sellers using the Basic tier of bumpers will have a maximum of 50,000 impressions each month, and when this limit is reached all bumpers will stop serving until the next calendar month begins.
-
Slots: Each time a viewer plays a piece of content, there are a maximum of 5 possible slots for bumpers to run before the content (pre-roll) and 5 possible slots for bumpers to run after the content (post-roll). Each campaign will only fill 1 slot.
- The order in which campaigns will be played on one playback is randomized.
-
Targeting: Campaigns can be targeted to specific content by leveraging the Dynamic Categories feature.
- By targeting a Dynamic Category, a campaign will only display bumpers on the videos within that category. This approach enables users to configure metadata targeting to select which campaigns will play for which content. Note that a Dynamic Category does NOT need to be published for targeting, and that content will continue to get updated within the Dynamic Category each day even while unpublished.
- Pre / Post Roll: Bumpers can be programmed to play before or after a main video.
