Overview
Bumpers Enhanced Targeting allows sellers to display bumper campaigns only to relevant viewer groups. With this feature, you can:
- Target specific products.
- Reach viewers based on subscription type (monthly, annual, or free trial).
- Limit visibility by country.
These controls help deliver more personalized, action-driven messaging and ensure campaigns are only shown to the most relevant viewers.
⚠️Note: This feature is available only on the Bumpers Advanced Tier and is supported on the web and most major OTT apps (Apple, Google, Amazon v9.0+). Roku is supported but not enabled by default. Not supported on Tizen, Xbox, LG, or Vizio.
Before you begin
To use enhanced targeting:
- Ensure your account has access to Bumpers Advanced Tier.
- Plan your messaging strategy for each viewer segment.
Target by product
Product targeting lets you display bumpers only to viewers who are subscribed to specific products.
- Go to your bumper campaign settings.
- In the Product Targeting section, click the + icon.
- Select one or more products you want to target.
This allows you to tailor calls-to-action. For example, show bumpers highlighting upcoming releases targeted to SVOD subscribers, and another version of the bumper campaign targeted at free FVOD viewers, highlighting all of the content available on the paid SVOD tier.
Target by subscription type
This option allows you to display bumpers exclusively to viewers based on their subscription status.
- Enable the Subscription Type Targeting toggle.
- Choose one of the following:
- Monthly – Targets monthly plan viewers.
- Annual – Targets annual plan viewers.
- Free Trial – Targets those on a free trial (monthly or annual).
This helps you serve messages, such as prompts for monthly users to switch to annual subscriptions or highlighting the range of content aimed at converting free trial users to a paid plan.
Target by country (Geo targeting)
Limit your campaign’s reach by selecting specific countries.
- Find the Geo Targeting section in your campaign editor.
- Add one or more countries where the campaign should run.
Only viewers in the selected countries will see the bumper. Viewers outside those countries will not, even if they are otherwise eligible.
⚠️Note: You cannot exclude countries—only include the ones you want to target. The viewer's location is determined by IP address.
Additional bumper settings
These additional settings give you more control over how your bumpers behave:
- Position - Choose if you want the bumper to play before the main video (Pre-roll) or after the main video (Post-roll) by selecting the Pre or Post-roll button.

Skippable - Choose if you want the bumper to be skippable. If selected, the viewer will be able to skip the bumper after a 5-second countdown. If not selected, the viewer will need to watch the entire bumper video before the main video plays.
- Setting a bumper campaign to Skippable will show the text Skip AD and ad counter AD:(0:01). This text cannot be customized. If you do not want to show Skip Ad text, do not enable skippable functionality.
- Due to technical limitations of the Roku platform, skippable bumpers cannot be skipped on Roku.
