How to simulcast my Vimeo event to other streaming destinations

This feature requires an Advanced or Premium plan, or an Enterprise plan with the Events feature added.

You can simulcast your live event from Vimeo to any streaming destination that accepts RTMP, such as Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch, so your content reaches your audience on your preferred platform. This article discusses what you need from the streaming destination and how to configure your Vimeo event to simulcast to those other providers.

Requirements for simulcasting to custom destinations

If your desired streaming destination does not have a direct integration with Vimeo, such as Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, confirm that it can receive live broadcasts via RTMP.

If it can, locate the RTMP URL (sometimes referred to as the Server URL) and the Stream key for your account on that platform. Provided below are links to popular platforms' documentation on how to do so:

Before your event, check with your provider for instructions and best practices for streaming to that platform using a software encoder, treating Vimeo as the software encoder.

For Enterprise accounts with Workspaces: While connections to social sites are user-specific, the ability to share and privacy settings can be configured and managed at both the Workspace and Organization levels, with Organization settings taking precedence. Set up a custom streaming destination on my Vimeo event

Once you have the RTMP URL and Stream Key for your streaming destination, you can add them to your Vimeo event settings so that Vimeo can push your live stream to that provider.

1. On Vimeo, create or navigate to your event.
2. In the production tool, select Settings at the top of the page.
3. In the right-hand menu, open the Destinations panel.
   
4. Scroll to the bottom of the panel to find RTMP, then select Add.
   • If you are streaming to Instagram, TikTok, or X, you can select Add next to the corresponding icons, but the following steps are the same.
     
5. An RTMP streaming settings modal window will open on Vimeo. Input a Destination name (e.g. "My Twitch Channel"); this serves as a descriptive label for you.
6. Copy and paste the RTMP URL and Stream key from your destination into the corresponding fields on Vimeo, then click Save.
7. When you're ready, go live on Vimeo from your encoder.
8. Once you are streaming from your encoder, confirm that the video and audio are also being received at your custom destination. 
9. When you end the stream on Vimeo, the stream will also end on the destination.

How many custom destinations can I stream to at once?

You can simulcast to up to 20 custom streaming destinations via RTMP per event.
